Over the past week Jude Salmon, Active Schools Manager, has been running through the nominees for the coach category of the Active Schools Awards.

Stephen Murphy
Heather Brownlee, Active Schools Coordinator, says:
Stephen works with the Athletics Legacy Officer and has taken over leadership of the athletics club in the Queensferry cluster.
He helped me out by stepping into supervise basketball when I was let down by a club and he enjoyed it so much he is going on to undertake coaching courses, take on an additional session in the cluster and offer monthly competition for the youngsters.
Additionally, Stephen provides fitness classes for me to encourage staff health and wellbeing and these have proven to be very popular. Stephen is always willing to learn new things and seeks feedback on a regular basis to allow him to improve. He has helped out at very short notice and is flexible as much as possible to make things happen for the children and Active Schools. A very much improved coach throughout this year.
Chris Cooney
Chris has been a very valuable asset to the Castlebrae cluster. Chris originally became involved with Active schools a number of years ago as a parent volunteer assisting with Bikeability.
Chris very quickly wanted to be involved with more, becoming qualified in Bikeability and going on to become the cluster bike mentor. Chris was keen to develop and train in new areas and, through support from Active Schools, he gained his level one coaching certificate in basketball.
Chris is local to the area and is involved with other agencies and is always looking for new ways of working in partnership with others.
